Stewart Michael Foley
Stewart Michael Foley passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Jones County Rest Home in Laurel. He was born in Cloquet, Minn., on Dec. 26, 1948 and was 75 years of age.
Stewart was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Barbara, to whom he was married for 54 years. He was a successful businessman who mentored and influenced countless people during his career and beyond. He was matter of fact when it came to business and financial success and never hesitated to share his best practices with anyone who listened and even those who didn’t. He was a big kid at heart and often said, “the one who dies with the most toys wins!” He had an infectious personality and a smile that radiated positivity and enthusiasm. Stewart was a positive influence on so many during his lifetime. He had a zest for life and loved spending time with family and friends, sailing in the Gulf of Mexico, traveling, hunting, skiing and planting trees and watching them grow on his property. He was well respected and dearly loved.
Stewart was a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi and spent the majority of his career in sales and marketing, employed with Northern Electric Company, Sunbeam, Hanson Scales and business owner of Genesis Manufacturing. He was retired for the past 13 years.
Stewart was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Susan Foley; paternal grandparents; and maternal grandparents.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Polson Foley; sisters Sharon Simpson (Alton) and Barbara Robinson (Ronnie); sisters-in-law Wanda Wallace and Jennifer Rodriguez (Ray); brother-in-law Stan Polson (Mary); nieces/nephews Heather Simpson Burke, Jeffrey Robinson, Jennifer Robinson McCaffrey, Greg Polk, Neil Polk, Eric Polson, Brian Polson, Kelli Polson Prieto, Bradley Lambert, Troy Lambert, Brandi Rodriguez, Rachel Rodriguez and Ray Rodriguez Jr.; godson Louis Embrey IV; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be on St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday, March 17, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Jennifer Rodriguez will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
