A marketing rep invites you to a webinar for software you tried ages ago. First, you didn’t want the email—they auto-sent it anyway. Second, it now appears as an event in your Google Calendar. How annoying.
It’s time to stop that from happening. Fortunately, you can prevent Gmail from creating calendar events for you.
How to Stop Gmail From Updating Your Google Calendar

While the integration between Gmail, Calendar, and Meet can be incredibly useful, it can also lead to unwanted calendar events being created automatically. Fortunately, you can disable this from the Google Calendar settings. Here's how:
Google will save your changes for you, and you won't get Gmail events in your calendar anymore.

If you want to keep this feature but don’t want others to see these events in your calendar, you can use the dropdown menu under the same heading to swap Privacy of email events to Only me.

Most people disable this feature mainly to stop spam invites in Google Calendar. However, you can benefit from the feature but limit it to known senders or events that you respond to. To do so, go to Event settings and set the fly menu labeled Add invitations to my calendar to Only if the sender is known or When I respond to the invitation in email.
That way, if you’ve blocked out your study sessions in Google Calendar—or work, projects, and anything else that keeps you busy—you won’t end up with a bunch of distracting clutter. Additionally, the spam events won't disrupt your Google Calendar appointment slots.
Take Back Control of Your Google Calendar
Unwanted events popping up in your Google Calendar is just annoying. On top of that, if your colleagues need to book time with you, these spam events can make the process more difficult for them.
You can get in front of this by preventing Gmail from automatically adding events. Remember to check your event settings to customize the feature before deciding to fully disable it.
